Can't shift through gears after clutch job
I just finished a clutch job on my son's 96 5-speed Neon. Everything went well until I tried to back out of the garage. I can't seem to cycle through the gears. Well, I can move the stick up and down (3rd and 4th?) and up to the right (5th) I am thinking the levers on top of the transmission are not "synced" correctly preventing the shift pattern from being cycled. I hope my description makes sense.
I did verify that the cable and fork for the clutch was fine after mounting the trans to the engine. However, I know my "helper" was playing with the selector levers while the cables were off the transmission. I also replaced the grommets at the end of both cables (what a PITA since I had to order them online and wait three days).
Are there magical positions for the levers for the trains to shift properly?
Thanks in advance.
