Well tried to get the 96 neon by emmions (Tennessee), the stupid check engine light comes on after about 20 miles of driving. 0300 code, random misfire. Car runs like a charm. Anyways unpluged the batter went to the emmission test at 17 miles, passed everything but catolitic converter -- not ready. Since I have only a short window to drive, someone told me I could add a bottle of isp rubbing alcholic 99% to about 4 gal of gas then drive straight to emmions place which is 10 miles from my house (note under the 20 check engine light milage) and that the isp alcohol will make my converter get hot enought to pass.

I don't have the money on had to have a mech. check and fix the code issue. The car usually keeps the ck engine light on and I have NO problems with it. Its only an issue once a year with emmissions testing.


Anyone hear of this?
