well i kind of found this a pain when im tryin to take some one off the line... when i slam the gas it goes through first and second real quick with good acceleration... but when it hits 3rd that gear just lags on for a while and the car doesn't go as fast... now i know my neon ain't fast and i know its because its a automatic tranny and thats how they work..... but is there any way to fix that or make it seem better... i was just curious what you guys think about it.

i decided to ask this tonight cuz on my way home from work a ford probe gt and what looked like a scion or very new acura kinda smoked me... i wasn't as serious cuz i didn't think they were actually going to race me so they got the jump on my but still this has been buggin me for a while..

Try a new valve body. Modern sells them. That will give you quicker shifts.

 

also they are only about 300 bux....

 

hey i have a 95 and same prob 3rd is too long but being that its an auto matic just use the 1st 2cnd drive options pull the shifter all the way down into first and let it hit about 30 then second about 50 or 60... i knnow it will eventually kill the clutch but hell my neon has 140 thousand miles it almost dead...

 

At least you know its gonna kill your tranny, lol!!!!!! Shifting a ATX has got to be one of the worst things you can do.
