Default need help ASAP!!! please

My son has a 1995 Plymouth Neon 2.0L and when the motor is cold it will start and run for about 20 minutes and then dies. It will not start back up until the temperature gauge goes all the way down to cold. We have replaced the coil pack and camshaft position sensor and still nothing. I took out the crankshaft position sensor to check the condition of the wires etc. Now the problem is that when I look up a crankshaft position sensor I get different part numbers but the part looks the same.

Im at a loss as to what can be causing the motor to just shut down when it heats up and the crankshaft position sensor is the only other thing I can think to replace.

Also there is a wire attached to the positive battery cable that has a 30amp fuse inline. The wire goes through the firewall on the drivers side. My son has no idea what it is for. I dont know if that is stock or if that is a factory wire. I have not been able as of yet to locate where the wire is going to.

Please any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated. I have to get this car back on the road ASAP since this is his only means of transportation for work.

Thank you.

Default Egr?

Sounds like the EGR valve to me.

Don't know if you found the issue or not, but I would tend to lean towards a possible automatic shutdown issue or possibly a bad Coil Pack since it is sitting on top of the valve cover and is susceptible to what's known as "heat sink" where when it gets to a certain temp, it just plain stops working. I've had it happen to one of my Neon's and I found, after removing the coil pack, that there were cracks all over underneath.

If you suspect its the EGR just unplug the EGR and try it... Neons don't need it plugged in to run. My Neon's PCM hasn't read an EGR signal or downstream 02 in 160,000 Miles lol Deleted both of those damn things & punted them across the highway years ago.

As for the heat sink effect on the coil, I'm sure anything is possible, but with my Neon having 273,000 miles on both the body, engine and coil and having been not once but 2x turbo'ed in the past with 17 psi, its fair to say that its seen more than its fair share of heat with 1100-1200 degrees of hot turbo sitting just a few inches below it and it still to this day has never failed me. I think I would shift my focus toward a bad temp sensor, PCM or bad ground off the negative battery cable or starter. Start checking for bad or missing ground wires. They can wreak havoc on you & mimic problems that aren't there.
