A/C Compresser????
I herd some talking about taking the A/C compressor off or some thing with the a/c to gain more power any one no any thing about this?
Another thing any one no any good sites for cheap neon parts and any sites that have dodge neon customizing?

Just removing the belt for the a/c and p/s has been dynoed for a 4 HP increase. At WOT, the PCM turns off the a/c anyways. That's how much drag you get from those systems... Removing all the a/c components drops a good 40 pounds as well.

How would you go about removing the compressor? I'm not even certain of a safe way to depressure it... and aside from unbolting the unit itself, what all else would you have to remove/disconnet (or maybe even plug?)?

Even with R-134a refrigerant, you're not supposed to just vent it to atmosphere. Legally, a recovery unit should be used by an EPA certified technician. But most people just take a screwdriver to the low pressure side schrader valve... A local shop would probably drain the system for you for $30 or so under the table.
Been a while since I took mine out... There's an input pipe and an output pipe that have to be disconnected (single bolt?). Think there were 3 or 4 bolts holding it to the mounting bracket. Easiest way for me to get it out was from the bottom, and I had to take off the plastic tray on the passenger side to do that. There's no need to plug anything unless you're dead set on using the system again, in which case its easier to just leave the compressor in place. The evaporator is in front of the radiator, and you just have to unbolt that and lean it back, no need to drain the entire cooling system. The rest of the parts are pretty easy to get to and remove.
If you still want to keep power steering, just tell the parts store you only have p/s and they'll get you the right size belt.
