Default Help - Random Miscellaneous Part

As I was checking my EGR hoses a few minutes ago, I found a little surprise wedged under my crossover cable, where it joins on the transmission... It's a little rubber-ish piece (I've drawn a crude image in paint, which is attached)... I have no idea what this is from, and am somewhat curious (so I can... you know... put it back on, on the chance that it's of some importance, as most little parts are). If anyone knows, please enlighten me... (Or, for that matter, if someone feels like taking a peak to see if they've got one on the bottom of their battery tray or PDC, I'd much appreciate it.

I would bet you have a Manual, and that fits right on top of the trans. Its the dust cover for the transmission

Thanks... and that would make perfect sense. I just never noticed it on before... there's a distinct possibility that it's been off the entire time I've owned the car (it wouldn't surprise me at all)

No, problem, I lost mine in one of my many clutch jobs, it is pretty important, anything that get in there can screw up your clutch.

Well, that's definately it... I'll double-check when I go back outside to make sure it's snapped in all around, it was kinda hard to wedge my hand in there. I'm not too sure how it got over there, or how long it's been off... That does explain why my shifting was a little odd sometimes, since that was wedged under there. I had figured I just needed to adjust the cable... I'll have to keep an eye on it, see if it comes off again somehow.
