5th gear jumps
Hi all: My 1995 Neon (386,000) keeps jumping out of 5th gear. If I don't hit the gas, it'll stay in gear, but as soon as I hit the gas, even a little, it jumps into neutral.
I replaced the shifter bushings yesterday and that didn't help. The other gears hold just fine, it's only 5th that has the problem.
The clutch seems to be good, but there's a rattle in it in the mornings, or when it's cold. Release bearing?
I've been pushing against the shifter when it's in gear also...some guys say that'll bend the shifter fork.
Ideas welcome.
