Default Speedometer isn't working??

I've got a 1997 neon SOHC 5 speed manual, my car threw the code P0500 whitch is the VSS, the problem I am having is finding information on where the hell the Sensor is located.!! I have a the Haynes manual but it only talks about the location on the automatic? I haven't traced the wires yet, but if I could figure out without tracing it would save me a hell of a lot of time. I'm getting tired of using my phone for a speedometer

On the back, top of the transmission right above the differential (where the axels go into). It is cradled in the area where the rear transmission bobble strut mount bolts up to the transmission. One 10mm bolt holds it in. You can get it from the top by taking the intake tube off and going straight down weaving your arm through the hoses and shift linkage.

The biggest issue with speedometers not working tho is the gauge itself. The solder on the circuit board breaks.
