got a Q, would a motor from a daytona fit in my 95 neon
yeah thats my Q would a daytona motor 2.2 turbo fit in my 95, i just found the car has a new motor and tranny in it.. would it fit motor or both... thanx
The engine will physically fit... The 2.0/2.4 are based on the old 2.2/2.5. You may have to rig up your own custom motor mounts, and pretty sure you'll have to figure out some way to run the engine becuase the Neon's PCM won't do it, if I recall (the Neon uses a very unique crank/cam signal combo). The Neon's tranny should bolt up to it. If you are using the tranny that comes with the 2.2, you might have to play around with different axles from other P-bodies, various Neons, PT Cruiser, etc. I'm positive the spline count on the tranny side is the same, and I'm almost positive that it's different on the hub side from the 1st gen Neon, but the same as the 2nd gen Neon.
Basically, if you're asking if it's possible, then the answer is "absolutely!"... with some work.

I'm curious to the comment on "The 2.0/2.4 are based on the old 2.2/2.5" What do you mean by that? The old 2.2/2.5 motors do not use a bed plate like the newer 4 cylinders do. And just that difference alone makes them two different animals to me. But your correct about the other stuff. Physically they will fit, but would sure take some work to mount them, and make it run.
Chrysler wanted to save on startup costs, so the tools used to machine the 2.2/2.5 were used on the new 2.0/2.4's. Same bore centers, same oil/water passages, etc. If you're getting your 2.0/2.4L bored out at a shop and they don't have a 2.0/2.4L blank (forget the name, but bolts on where the head goes to make sure everything is true...), you can use one from a 2.2/2.5L. I've seen the 2.0 DOHC heads mounted on 2.2 blocks working fine.
