Default Put put putting

My 2000 Plymouth Neon, 1 generation, has been put put putting for the last couple of days.....when I turn the heat on and when I go into reverse. A friend at work says he thinks it the spark plugs that need to be changed. Does anyone have absolutely any idea what this could be???? I don't want to be taken for a fool when I get to the autoshop afterwork. Thanks a bunch!!!!!!

It could be almost anything. Plugs, wire, and air filter are a good start. Are there any codes?

No, no codes at all.........it just puts and sounds like its going to stall out but doesn't especially when I put the heat on and especially when I go in reverse. I guess I'll just have to take it to Pet Boys. Spark plugs don't have anything to do with that does it?

The whole heat and reverse thing don't make any sense. The heat has no bearing on the way the motor runs at all and reverse should not be any different than drive or any other gear. An off the wall idea without enough information, but check your vacum lines.
