Default Engine Help needed

I have a 96 DOHC 5-speed 189k miles. Previous owner had the head"rebuilt"& new timing belt(@160k miles), dremeled throttle body neck smooth, added iridium plugs, gutted converter, stainlees steel header,2 chamber flowmaster, homemade CAI,removed cruise control, added poly motor mounts.
I bought it and drove it for cpl days in some heavy rain. Engine would idle funny while driving and hitting large puddles. Went back a week later to drive it and motor will only spin over,no fire. Did the SES light trick and got codes 11,34,32,43 and 55. So since timing belt was still looking new went to the Crank sensor and pulled it,while getting it out the plastice broke all to pieces. Replaced it (and had to buy an extra wiring harness since nobody sales a OEM sensor). Had to drop oil pan to get crank sensor out. So I change oil and filter. Went to crank it still nothing. Still getting all the codes so I unhook battery for awhile and try again. Go to crank it and nothing again. Ran codes again and now it's just 43. Took the plugs out to inspect them and plugs 2&4 are oil soaked. PLEASE somebody help. Cleaned the 2 plugs up and sprayed some cleaner in the holes gonna try to fire it again tomorrow.

Was the oil on the tips of the plugs or on the outside where the plug wires go on? I would get rid of the "fancy" plugs and put the OEM plugs in.

What is code 43 for?

On the plugs themselves up to the boot end of the wire. Code 43 is for a "Multiple/single missfire" if my info is correct

it sounds like you've hydro-locked your motor. Your engine can't compress water like it can with gas and air. Your cylinder heads could be toast or your rod arms could be bent. engine code 55 is of no concern, that's just "end of all codes"

Through a bit of reading I was able to find that code #11 can be three different things:
- 11 - No crank reference signal at the Powertrain control Module (PCM).
- 11 (P1390) - Timing belt skipped one tooth or more.
- 11 (P1391) - Intermittent loss of Camshaft Position Sensor (CMP) or Crankshaft Position Sensor (CKP).

Code #43 can be EIGHT different things:
- 43 - Charging System Voltage High.
- 43 (P0300) - Multiple Cylinder Misfire.
- 43 (P0301) - Cylinder #1 Misfire
- 43 (P0302) - Cylinder #2 Misfire
- 43 (P0303) - Cylinder #3 Misfire
- 43 (P0304) - Cylinder #4 Misfire
- 43 (P0351) - Ignition Coil #1 Primary Circuit
- 43 (P0352) - Ignition Coil #2 Primary Circuit

- 32** An open or shorted condition detected in the EGR solenoid circuit.Possible air/fuel ratio imbalance not detected during diagnosis.

-34 Open or shorted condition in the speed control vacuum or vent solenoid circuits.

Seeing as you've already replaced the crankshaft sensor, I'm going to stick with my hydrolocking theory. From now on, try to avoid those big puddles, they're BAAAD for your engine, especially with a CAI.

I am thinking hydrolock too considering the home made CAI. How far off the ground and where is the pick-up for the CAI?

Im thinking you just need plugs and wires. With those oil soak plugs and wires they are probably arcing to the spark plug "shafts" in the head.

Did the car run when you parked it? If so I really really doubt its been hydro locked. You would have had to suck in a ton of water to do that and it would have stalled right away.

Im betting if you put new plugs, wires, and reseal the valve cover with new spark plug hole o-rings and valve cover gasket that your car will run like normal again.

I thought I had it all fixed till today and it was running really good. Thanx for all the respones.
It died on my way home from work and of course during the rain/snow mix. No fire problem again.
Previously I had a resonator put on,new plugs wire and MSD coil. The code for the misfire was the coil. The stock coils notch was broked so the electrical pigtail wasn't fully connected.
CAI is on top motor with the K&N under the wiper arm area straight back from the TB
The cruise had apparently been completely removed by the previous owner cause of the CAI. Picked one up for nothing, plugged it in and capped off the vacuum line since I have no idea where/what hose to use 4 it.
The EGR was bad,so after it was replaced no more SES light.
