Default Gas problem

When I put gas in my car it spits right back out at me!! I have to very slowley put it in!! I was told my tank might be air locked, but if it is ....how can i fix it? Also, Im wondering if the problem im having with my gas gague is related to this, ive replaced my gagues, everything works great, except the gas gague, its never accurate or it shows empty..... Help Please!
BTW its a 96 neon sohc 2.0

There is a vent on the top of the gas tank that might be clogged. How it got clogged is another story, its very rare that it would be clogged. Have you tried putting the gas nozzle in at a different angle? I know some of the pumps I use will kick off if I don't have the nozzle in just right. As for the gas gauge, the sender unit in the tank might be bad. If I remember right, the sender and fuel pump are all one unit. And you do need to drop the tank to get at them.

ive tried diff angles with the nozzle, no luck....that sucks about the gas tank, I was kinda hopeing I could get at it from under the back seat.....Ahh well, such is life I guess! thanks for the help though casper , usually id go to a garage, you must have saved me lots of cash by now!

No problem, the tank is not that hard to do yourself, just make sure you run the car as close to empty as possible and use some penitrating oil on the tank strap bolts for a day or so before you plan on doing it, those bolts are a bitch. Just jack the car up, put it on stands, then put the jack under the tank to support the weight and take the strap bolts out. Lower it down and you should be all set.

yea when i put in the gas nozzle it kicks off i been going to the same gas station like for ever and the problem just started. when i put the nozzle in it kicks right off... i havew to hold it at this weird angle to make it work.i dont noe when it does that i think it has to do with the vapor thing.......
