Hello everyone! I am a newbie who is looking for some of your help and opinions. My brother has a 1998 Dodge Neon with 91k on the motor. Anyways the motor makes a slight knocking sound but he said that is has been making that sound since he got it. My questions to you is, is that normal for a neon? I have read that other are having the similar sound but i just want to make sure. I have taken it to a local shop and they said they can't figure it out where the sound is coming from without taking the motor apart. Any info would help.

As has been aswered a thousand time, neons are know for a cold idle tick. I can't hear what it sounds like in your typing, but if it sounds mild your probally fine. If the motor sounds like its gonna blow itself apart its a problem. If you had a trusted mechanic look at it then I would go with them as they are suposed to be professionals and did listen to the sound.
