Default RE: oil

sythetic is fantastic oil when used in the proper way. In a new car I would use nothing but Mobil 1 or any top shelf brand of syn. However in older cars with higher milage the seals have worn out and sometimes a synthetic motor oil, especially when introduced into a vehicle that has used nothing but traditional oil will start to corrode the seals (depending on the condition). On the other hand if your seals are in o.k. condition then a synthetic oil could be a godsend for your car.

Synthetic oils don't corrode seals, they shrink them.
