Default Tire sizing

Just bought some 17" rims w/ tires
The shop called the manufacture said it was for a 96 neon to make sure i get the right tire sizes and rims. So they verified that id get the right size
I get my tires they are 215/45/17
now i havnt mounted them yet because im waiting on the weather , but does that sound like the right size tire. Just wanting to see your opinion, they look like they will fit but close

i had a set of 17s on my car with 215 40 17's. they fit perfect.then i went on a trip to chicago and had a blow out. the only tire shop that i could get to didnt have any 215 40's in stock so i had to get a 215 45. the top inside of the tire rubbed on the bottom of the strut mount that holds the spring. so the 215 45 is a little too big. the 215 40 fits just fine with no rubbing though.

just an FYI the 17s are reallly only good for show. It takes more to spin them and they are heavier. I would personally go with 215/40 or 45/16 for better handling and easier to spin. but for show 215/40/17s look sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet.

i know that they are harder to spin if you have the chrome ones especially like mine. but if you get spoked 17's or aluminum anes then they arent much harder. just depends on how much they weigh. my chromes could still spin like hell though
