What Fluid for transmission. Auto and Manual.
Mopar sais that you dont have to change the Tranny fluid in the manual Neon, that its good for the life of the car even under racing conditions. Now if you do decide to change the fluid in the manual I highly recomend factory stuff. As far as the auto, autoparts stuff will work just fine.
For a 95 neon automatic should use ATF+3. For a manual, they use auto transfluid in it, but it's designed for winter driving only. The factory puts it in there because it is durable enough and it's cheaper. If you actually read the manual and ask the dealership, it uses a syncromesh gear lube avalible only from your dealer.
The dealership will tell you to put ATF+4 in the 5-speed. The Factory Service Manual for all 1st gen Neons says in bold letters to never put automatic transaxle fluid in there, ONLY Mopar Manual Transaxle Lubricant (they even include the part number)... All the 2nd gen Neons got shipped from the factory with ATF+4, haven't looked at their FSM. Here's the kicker though... All 5-speed Neons have the same NV T-350 tranny that's in the non-turbo PT Cruiser. Go up to the sevice desk and tell them you'd like some ATF+4 to put in your PT Cruiser's 5-speed tranny and watch the veins start bulging...
I go with the Mopar fluid. $12 per quart for 3 quarts is fine with me, it's not like it's all that often. So I don't take the family out to a movie that week...
