Another bad find. Low compression
I did a compression test the other day and found that i was getting 30psi in the 1 2 4 cyl and 60 in 3 cyl. Before i got this car the head was just rebuilt. Not really sure if the rings are bad or something they did wrong with the head because the car never has ran since the guy before me had the head rebuilt and other various problems fixed. What should i be checking first? Would the car even start with that low of a compression?
I got some weird findings after adding oil to each cylinder and retesting. After adding the oil, all of the readings went down. Also when testing cylinder 3 it blew out of cylinder 4. So im guessing its the head gasket. I will tear it off tomorrow and check the gasket, will also check the rings while im at it.
seeing how the head was just rebuilt I would highly doubt it would be from cracks but I think a better gasket would have been used. Try doing more compression tests and see how long it will hold pressure, it could be from when the head was rebuilt that it wasn't smoothed down enough and leting air get in, start at the test. then go to the gasket hopefull things will work out so you dont have to go that far, if your gona go that far minus well check it all out rings can cause a compression issue too hope you find the problem

Go for it and good luck, hope you find the problem and remember to use a good headgasket the ones came equiped on the neon aren't as good as they should be mopar makes a new and improved gasket now
