turbo from eclipse
I have a 95 neon SOHC, MTX and i was wondering if a turbo from a eclipse would fit?
My friend has a stock 97 eclipse turbo setup and is willing to give it to me and install for $100

as far as i know, it can be done. a friend of mine used a turbo from a daytona and it worked out great. might be alittle tight up by the firewall, depending on how big it is. but it most deff can work, for the oil lines just make a t fitting where the oil preasure sending unit is (on the back of the engine) or you could do some kind of ghetto rig and tap it from the oil pan (deff need a new moroso oil pan if your going to attempt that) and if its water cooled too, i believe there is a whole with a plug in it at the bottom of the engine someplace and you can use that for the water. anything is possible with enough time to make it work. good luck with it, i say go for it and just do a mock up before you start bolting **** up and see if you can fit the turbo back there first!
NO.....4g63 and ECC are two diff...motors. aLL MITSUS are reverse the flow of our neons. So whats on the front of motor is intake and back headers on ours. Eclipse Front: Exhaust.......Eclipse back: Intake........ So also the exhaust ports wont match up due to the difference in the engines.
That's the Garrett T-25, right? That's a pretty small turbo... But if he's going to install it for $100... Maybe you two should park the cars next to each other and pop the hoods. I don't think your friend realizes what he's getting into, probably thinks they're the same motor.
You can take the eclipse exhaust manifold, hack off the mounting flange for the turbo, and take the Neon's exhaust manifold somewhere to have the flange welded on. You'll want to do some careful test fitting before deciding on placement.
Were those Eclipses intercooled? I'm pretty sure the had a side-mount stock, get it, or get a cheap intercooler from some other turbo car at a salvage yard.
You may be able to use some of the intake piping from the eclipse, but you'll probably have to make a visit to an exhaust shop to have some stuff custom bent. Plus you'll need some way of connecting the turbo to the stock exhaust piping.
Oil lines have already been mentioned.
The MAP/PCM will not behave under a positive pressure, there are a couple of says around that, like a voltage clamp or "the black box".
You'll want a better fuel pump.
Depending on what you do with fuel management, you'll probably want bigger injectors. You can go with standalone, or a rrfpr setup.
Not bad for $100... Like I said, I don't think your friend is fully informed.
Best of luck!
