broken timing belt - bent valves?
lol when my car broke down i actually was thinking about getting a new neon and tranferring what i had on it. but every one i saw was automatics and i cant stand automatic neons.
the first neon that i owned, threw the timing belt, but it was because the tensioner pulley deal went out....i was sitting at a stop sign idleing when it happend....i got a used motorand had it installed for 400.00......the only part that sucked was that it was only 3 days after i got the car that it happened
Mine went shortly after I got the car, it was still under the 60 day warenty. LOL, I was in 2nd at about 5700, I went to shift to 3rd and all I heard was boom!!!!!! I got a rebuilt motor out of the dealership, lol

my water pump went, aswell as my timing belt. The mechanic says he cant see if the valves are bent untill he starts the process of chainging the timing belt and such. Is there a way to tell? I was goin only about 30 when it went, what are the chances of the valves been bent? Also he says if the valves are bent he can price out a new/used header or something and possibly just replace that?... Maybe i should just look into doing an engine swap - thing is i just bought it for $3000 and am looking to sell it once it's repaired thanks for the help!
My 05 Dodge Neon timing belt stripped 15 teeth and jump time without bending any valves so before you panic like I did because my car would not start at all I was thinking I bent my valves no I stripped the teeth off of the timing belt put a new timing belt on it started just fine like a champ
