Help - No Spark on rebuilt Motor
Help - I have been working on my car all day - Rebuilt the motor from the ground up ( this is the 3rd Time I have rebuilt this motor) so I would think I checked everything - but obviously I am missing something.!
96 Dodge Neon DOHC STOCK Engine
at the Spark Plug - I get No Spark!
Engine Turns over good - the Starter is Strong - I have good Compression - 180 on Cyclinders 1,2, & 3 - 170 at piston 4
I have disconnected all of my sensors and reconnected them about 3 times checking to see if I damaged the Wire Harness
I have triple checked all of the fuses - both the ones in the engine compartment and the ones under my dash.
I have swapped out the Coil Pack
I have swapped out the Cam Sensor
I also changed out a little gizmo near the Cam Sensor - it has a single wire plugged into it - it was mingled in with the wires running to the coil. almost looks like a capacitor or resistor.
I am in the process of checking the timing belt - but I don't believe that would be a issue with no spark at the plug
I am open to suggestions as I have been working on this car all day trying to get it ready to go racing this weekend.
You might be asking why I have rebuilt this motor 3 times??
The 1st Time I thru a Piston #1 thru the block!
The 2nd Time I bent a valve on Piston #4
The 3nd Time I spun a rod bearing on Piston #1
Feel free to email me or call my cell phone with suggestions 404-783-0678 as I am trying to ge this puppy running and take it to the race track this weekend.
Thanks
I finally got my Scanner Back - although I have no CEL light and no error codes
Going thur diagnostics - Every thing show Good Excpet
Cam Sensor - NO
Crank Sensor - NO
Everything else show normal
I have double check my wire harness - it looks good.
I also noticed something new and I can not pin point where the low pitch whistling noise is coming from.
Still can not get any spark

Well it is obvious what is wrong with my car.
Since I spun out a bearing on Rod #1 - I purchased a remanufactured Crank so I would not have the same issue with bearings.
Well the new Crank has a very weak magnet and the Crank Sensor will ocasionally detect it. which explains why someone else exchanged it for a another crank - they were having problems with it.
I am positive the Crank is bad and not the crank sensor because my voltage reading at both the Crank Sensor and PCM are good and I have replaced the Crank Sensor 3 times tonight with the same results.
Thanks Rich for discussing this with me - it helped me troubleshoot it as I was drawing blanks on the obvious things I would check.
I will miss tomorrows race in Savannah - but I will have it rebuilt before the next race.
This time I will build up two motors - with my Bad Luck - I obviously need a spare motor!
