What is it with New Sensors for 1st Gen Neons
For my class that I race in requires factory parts. - so I use my Local Dodge Dealerships. sometimes I get in a crunch and will hit the local parts store.
My 99 is not a NYG - I had a 95 NYG - Liked it so much that I painted my 96 Neon NYG, My 96 Neon just expired from racing - class rules for Show Room Stock allows 10 Years of racing - so I bought a 99 and painted it the same as a NYG and moved my Cage and race gear from the 96 to the 99 - so I can race it till 2008.
I just had to do the same thing, I changed the VSS and it was the universal plug, came with heat shrink, so doing one handed crimping behind the block and trying to heat shrink the joints really sucked. just ordered the cam sensor and the dealership explained that I had to change the plug, but they charge separately at the dealer for the plug, $25. They are smokin something because I got my VSS from local mom&pop parts store and the Borg Warner sensor came with the new plug, and it was cheaper than the dealers sensor and no charge for the plug.
Hi revamped,
What year is your Neon? just curious!
I notice my 99 Neon seams to require less of the crimping of the new connectors then my 96 Neon. My 96 Neon has forced me to replace the connector on every sensor so far.
I don't think I have ever been able to get anything cheaper at the Dealership then at any other part store. Although my class rules require Factory Dodge parts on my race car.
Although - I can not complain too much - my Dodge Dealer works with me and it is worth the few extra Bucks for parts!
Plus my Dodge Dealer is really supportive of my racing! You have to find the right Dodge Dealership.
I got very lucky and the 1st Dealer I started dealing with Parts & Service Manager was very eager and aggressive on makeing my Neon Perform at its best on the race track!
