Default Coil pack

Well I know normally youll get a code 42(Multiple Cylander Misfire) When your plugs or wires are bad. However my plugs and wires are brand new so its leading me towards the coil pack. I do however have doubts because I was reading that most Neon coil packs will last the life of the car. Is it normal for a pack to go out around 125-30K miles or do they really last the lifetime of the car.

I also heard that the wiring that runs from the pack to the starter/or batter im not sure where will become bad or be destroyed over time by heat from the motor, If this is true how often does that accur?

The coil packs usually don't go. It is possible and does happen, but its not a common problem. I would check all your wiring and plugs to make sure that they are all good before you get too far into it.

Code 43 is a misfire, and I'd inspect your coil pack for cracks.

Code 42 can be:
Fuel pump relay control circuit problem
Auto shutdown (ASD) relay control circuit problem
No ASD relay output voltage at PCM
Fuel level sending unit - volts out of range
Fuel level sending unit - no change over miles

I'd get the P code to be sure!
