And simply the washers took the place of the spacer filling the gap!
Good luck,

Sean
Good idea, did you use lock washers by chance? Just curious.

Going back to the post about how the depth could have been wrong. I know what you mean, but that wasnt my problem.

The alternator was slanted in a fashion where it was guiding the belt towards the engine. Like the back part of the pulley was center with the engine, but not alligned, as the more front part of the pulley was about half a cm towarss the engine. Its hard to explain, but I can assure it wasnt a depth issue. This one had me puzzled.

Well its been roughly couple weeks since I did what seemed a quick fix and bam, it almost rolled off the alternator again. So I put it on again, tightened it appropriatly and it at idle it was fine. Rev it anymore and it squeels/churps, and it only gets louder as you rev it up.

Basically, I just want confirmation that the belt sliding off and now this rediculous noise is leaning towards a garbage alternator.

FYI: Its less than a year old and was brand new when I bought it. Should there still be a warrenty on it?

Thanks, Sean

It might have been here or there, but I read something somewhere, and I put some washers behind the alternator to make it stick out an extra 1/4 maybe 3/8 of an inch, and it has been good ever since.

Apperently the alt. manufactures slipped somewhere!

The warrenty varies from manufacture to manufacture but after only a year It should be or right at the point of running out have you checked the alternator to make sure it was garbage? if not start the car up and remove the positeve post, if it dies then its your alternator gone bad there is also some type of lubracant that can be used with the belts to stop the noise but im not sure how long it would last seems like your washers held up good congrads

i had the same problem with mine and all i did was swap out the pulleyon the alt for one of a 93 turaus and it worked fine so just fine a pulley with a larger diameter and you sould be fine

Larger diameter means slower acceleration.

ill give my 2 cents (which arent worth ****) since i race a neon that goes through seruois abuse, and we have to use stock parts, ive had 3 crank pulleys - harmonic damper, whatever you wanna call it, the outer ring works its way off the rubber slowly, misaligns the belts and they shred or come off, a new crank pulley solved the problem 3 times on the race car, and once on my daily driver,i did the same thing with washers behind the bracket for a quick fix but it didnt last very long -
hope this helps
