Default 97 wireing issue

My wife and i were on our way home from work when the car died on us. i left the car there over night. when i went back the next day the only issue that i could find was that the fuel pump fuse was blown and every time i put a new one in it would blow. i put a new fuel pump in and it still blows. then come to find out there was a short in the wireing some were. we can't find the short. all the wires are connected and there are no bare wires that are touching anything that they shouldn't.

first off has anyone eles had this issue and if so how did you solve it?

second i was thinking of getting a new wireing harness, does anyone know were i can get one that is in tac. the only ones that i could get were all busted up?

Default RE: 97 wireing issue

I understand that the Car computer share the same fuse w/the fuel pump. I found this info for you from a fellow neon owner

Well in my case it was the PCM. The big multi-pin plug is soldered to the main circuit board. the main "Ground" points on the plug where it soldered to the circuit board had fatigued and broke loose. I also found 1 place near the back of the board. I dug out the potting goo and repaired the board.

This was effectively like doing brain Surgery on yourself with a steak knife and spoon. The Red circles are where I found bad solder connections

1. You must know how to solder well.
2. You can't be faint of heart to dig in to it. CAREFULLY! you screw up and
you buy a new PCM!
