to save your bearings I wouldnt hit it with a big hammer. What you could do is very carefully drill it out. Use a small enough bit that you dont damage the crank.
Is it loose inside or is it jammed in? I guess I should have asked this before hand. If it is loose then get a small magnet that you can get inside with crank bolt hole with and pull it out.

this stinking thing wont budge... I have a bar between the lug nuts on the garage floor to stop the one wheel from turning and I am now turning the tire on the drivers side. this is unreal...
okay, thats another gear puller down the tubes...
I just stripped this one right out. Luckly I get a warrenty with it and they told me if I break it they will replace it
Im losing alot of patience with this and am ready to just say the hell with it and torch the thing.

ok so heres a bad idea but it worked last time i tried it DONT DO IT OFTEN! Grab a crow bar, wedge it in the pully (with the bolt off) and just crank the ignition once or twice, and it should pop off, its a bad idea cause you risk damaging your oil pan and such, but if you can wedge it somewhere secure it should work, we did it once on mine and It came off! Good luck... (im sure ill hear how bad of an idea this is, but it worked)
make sure you use a puller that the center bolt is fine thread....if its a course thread then thats why the strip out....you shouldnt have that problem with a fine thread one
okay this pulley is better then any man or motor. I tried jamming the crowbar in and it just stopped everything lol... I dont know what else to do. I heated it up with a torch, nothing; used a hammer, nothing; broke multiple gear pullers; tried jamming something in it and cranking it and all that did was stop the motor and got a wire toasty on the alternator. Next step is cutting it off I think.
