Default Buying a Neon

We are looking at purchasing a first generation Neon. Is there anything we should look for before our purchase? Any additional comments are much appreciated

Default RE: Buying a Neon

1st gens from 95-98 are notorious for headgasket failure. An MLS headgasket should be a priority to check for. Also neons have a 100,000 mile timing belt. Ask to see if it along with the water pump and tensioner have been changed if the car is around that milage. They are great cars and can be alot of fun to drive. Do you know what you are looking for, ie: SOHC, DOHC, sedan or coupe?
