It prolly will end up throwing a code... The one kit that Das pointed out comes with a resistor type thing that is supposed to help solvethat problem, though

If you pull off the egr valve and block it off, will you get a code?
You will get a code 32 if you have a stock PCM, Mopar and AF/X PCM's don't look for the EGR.

Will it give you more horsepower or help you gas mileage?
No, no HP gains at all.

The kit from NeonGoodies.com offers a resistor looking mechanism, will that help with the code 32? Will it hurt anything if the car is throwing that code?

It is supposed to reduce the code. If it isn't functioning correctly, it can hurt performance. Doesn't hurt if it's blocked off.

Well, I know I cleaned it out once with WD-40 and it straightened up for a while. I think I am just going to block it off with the kit from NeonGoodies.. Thanks guys!

Hmm, anyone able to confirm the idea with getting the block off kit from a 2nd gen and it fitting the first gen?

I haven't heard of it, besides the 2nd gens are SOHC and probably wouldn't work on the DOHC.

Yes, I confirmed it. If you read the previous post, I did it on my car. The only thing that I was not sure about was the compatablity between the dohc and sohc, however modern sells that same kit for both so I am about 98% sure it will work on the first gen dohc as well.

The 2nd gen head and the first gen head are identical. I checked the casting numbers and part numbers with Dodge. The same part number (bare head) fits all years sohc '94 to '02.
