ahh well today my check engine light went off after its been on for the past week and a half for the cat. being bad and chugging...well today it went off and my car didn't chug at all and i couldn't smell the gas fumes.... whats going on with my car? lol.... should i just wait and see if it comes back on and chugs again before i replace the cat?

 

when you pull the codes what do you get? if your cat is the issue you can either buy a new one/ used one or buy a eliminator hope some of that was helfpull and good luck !!

 

it just gave me code 12(dont know why cause i never un-plugged the battery nor pcm for months it just randomly come on lol) and then code 64 which is Catalytic converter efficiency failure.

 

I think its funny how these cars somehow tend to fix themselves! Haha

Yeah the reason why it comes off an on, is because your oxygen sensors check everyonce in awhile I don't know exactly, but anyway... The downstream says that you need a new cat. And it will go off and on becuase of the checks that the oxygen sensor does. Had the same thing happen. Need new cat.
