Overheated and then ??
Ok, Last week I was going to my work, normally a 10minute drive, but with the morning traffic it's a 30minute stop and go hell.
Normally the temp is very low, maybe 1/8th of the complete temperature scale. And then it happend... the temperature is rising.
At the moment the bells are ringing (dong dong ) I decided to stop the engine, everybody behind me angry but hey.... Its a dodge so all of them has to wait, to hot is to hot..
As i turned the key of the car to the engine-check-mode or what is the name, (pre-start ??) I saw the temp after 10minutes going down a bit. I pop the hood and check... If im right and correct me if im wrong, the fan's should be working then. I figure since the temp was dropping, i start the engine.. nothing happens to the fan's.... engine starts without problems....
Drove back home and called in sick, (ok the car is sick). Problem was that the engine-temp-probe was broken...
Fixed the problem my self, the probe costed me about 30dollar.
As my old car (toyota corrola 1986) had a broken radiator, I had to replace every piece of rubber material (master/slave cylinder, waterpump, ect ect.)
The latest problem with the Dodge Neon is that the engine ilde is rough, and when driving slow or breakin, the engine stops.
Is this the after math of that engine that went to hot, can i expect more problems or is this a new problem?
What do you all do when you had a too hot engine?
