Default -Head & Tranny Q-

Two questions:

1) What kind of job would it be to swap an auto to a 5 speed....computer issues along with any others????

2) If I were to pull the head off of a SOHC motor, how much could I shave off (get comp. up!!) without running into valve/piston ploblems (hitting each other)....I'll likely be putting a slightly bigger cam in.

Thanks!

1)Here is a website that has a great tranny swap how-to, so you can see what you are in for...
http://www.msu.edu/~lareseer/trannySwap.html

2).025" would be the max I think.

Sounds like a pain in the A**..... What if I would find a DOHC 5-speed neon and swap motors (I have to run a Single cam motor)? Would that be any easier?

You can swap motors, but I don't know that it will be any easier. In the how-to on that web page they left the motor in, but I'd pull the motor and tranny together.
