chopped shifter????

I was planning on cutting my shifter down. i was just wondering if there is anything special you have to do first? doesnt seem like it but i dont want to screw stuff up and pay for it later. thanks

if you have the stock shift **** on there, then you wont be able to use it

i wasnt planning on keeping the stock ****. but is that all i have to do then?
