Default Neons been sitting 3 months: belt smoking

finally got the thing started and to run right and now i got an alt belt smoking like crazy, the belt looked to be in good condition upon inspection so i only replaced the serp belt now upon startup the belt starts to smoke almost immediatly, what do i needa do to remedy this andy help greatly appreciated

sure its the belt and not something else? like the alt. or something?

I bet your alternator is siezed. The same thing happened with my Neon and the alt was siezed solid, nothing I could do to free it up. I went to the junk yard and got another alt and it was frozen too!! It was pretty easy to free up though, it had only been sitting a few months, compared to my car sitting for years! Good luck.

One of the pulleys has frozen.
