Default Horsepower Chip..Question

I came across a chip that can give upto an increase of +20 horsepower.. Now i noticed that this "chip" is simply a resistor that plugs into the CPU of the dodge neon..Does this Really work and will it give me an increase in horspower?..I purchased it, but i feel like i have been scammed! The seller guaranteed an increase and said if installed correctly, it actually works..Furthermore, it says its 100% Safe and 100% Legal and wont harm the engine....Whats the deal with this resistor..how does it work? and does it actually work?

I see you have been on ebay, no those chips don't work, and im sorry to say but you have been scambed, just because it claims to add insane amounts of HP doesn't mean its going to. if that where the case then every car would rolling around with those and race car drivers would swear on them as if they where the holy bible, a lot of performance parts put labels on there parts adding claims on crazy HP increases. and they are wrong. anytime you see a part to have that much hp and doesnt seem that is should then odds are it doesn't. the only mods that can show you gains like that are turbo's and NOS systems you can also achieve those results with internal engine modifications such as port and polish jobs with better cams, performance ecu, shafts and other things, if you want instant power then those would be great options if those are an option money wise, the resistor is suppose to trick your PCM to think that the air coming in is actually colder then it is, in return more cold air more hp, the colder the air your engine takes in the better it performes, that chip/ resistor that you can pick up in radioshack can actually hurt your car more then help, hope some of that was helpfull and don't feel bad about getting scambed at some point we all get the rat screw.

Theoretically, it may work for a few seconds but the PCM will "correct" the problem. All you will do is waste gas.

After receiving in the mail..i noticed it was a .10 cents resistor that anyone can buy from radioshack. What a ripoff..i left the guy an email stating that its simply a resistor and it wont make a huge difference..more or less, it will also have a negative effect on the engine..His reply was this : if used correctly..it will work..

Your car will accelerate faster and have a higher top end speed. This is a great mod for any car, and will definitely increase your HORSEPOWER up to 20 hp. Your 1/4-mile times will decrease a few tenths of a second or more and your 1/4-mile MPH will improve as well.
Do not pay hundreds for this mod at your local shop!

Same function as ECU upgrades and Performance chips like the Jet V-chip...but this just for a fraction of the cost. This will release the potential of your engine. Remember that car makes must limit power on engines due to legal regulations. This is one of those modifications that takes that legal barrier off and allows your engine to breathe and go faster than before

Seems convincing doesnt it? hahaha

If its as good as an ECU upgrade, then why is it soo cheap? and why isnt everyone buying them.[:@]

does sound convincing...but doesn't work sadly...plus the Neon PCM cant be re-programed (i think... thats what i've heard) but can buy the Mopar Performance and such...
