Default what to look for...

I'm thinking about getting another neon.. pretty much b/c its cheap enough that i can afford it at the moment. I was just curious what are the important things to check out, since it is an older car and all.

1995
2 door dodge neon
white
111,000 miles
automatic (yes i perfer automatic 1) i like to multitask while driving 2) stick = speed and I can afford that)
a/c and auto windows.
$700

What do you think?

as long as the body is in good shape and it runs good then its well worth 700.00

i got my recent 98 r/t almost 2 years ago
manual windows/locks/mirrors
74,000 miles
paid $6,200

so 700 isnt bad

2 biggest things would be 1)does it have the Multi-Layered Steel Headgasket (MLS HG) and 2)has the timing belt, water pump, and tensione pulley been changed at the recommended 100,000 mile mark.

Also look in the engine for any oil leaks and such.

even if it didnt have the head gasket and timing stuff wasnt changed it would probally be worth getting the car and just have the stuff changed

Agreed, but she should know what to expect if/when she buys it.

Hi guys, I'm quite new to the whole neon scene and I just have a question as to what to look for. I am looking at a 1st gen neon. It has a full body kit, and the engine has a large aftermarket turbo on it. The guy thinks it has a bad head gasket. It runs but lacks the power it should have. I have been a dodge fan all my life. My family all drives dodge trucks or cars except me. I have an 87 turbo supra but as of now it needs some rebuild time put in. Too much boost caused the famous head gasket explosion. Anyways this car has been offered to me for a very very cheap price. All I want to know is what to look for in the neons, engine wise and body wise. I am some what mechanically inclined and can do alot of work myself. I really just need to know what I could get myself into, with the turbo and all, and what I should look for before I buy. Any advice is would be great. Thanks in advance.

Watch the paint. I've heard that the earlier neons - especially white and I think purple? - were notorious for cracking, and chipping off. Sometimes in huge chunks!
