Alright for those of you guys that have the SOHC engine, at what speed when holding WOT does your car shift from 1st to 2nd? Mine shifts at about 45 mph and when its that high it winds right out and it sounds like its gonna blow up. Is this bad or is this normal? It worries me.

 

sounds like a good speed, but my old one always would do it at about 55mph.....and revving that high its gonna sounds kinda loud

 

Yeah it just seems like its bad for teh car.

 

the neon engines(not sure about the sohc though) were made for high revving

 

Well mine now shifts at 55mph and thats after a tranny rebuild and a shift kit, it almost hits the rev limiter when it shifts. So yours is a little early... be careful if its whining, or anything get it checked out.

 

mine with the auto shifted about 55 MPH, 6600 RPM or so, 5 speed now i use the rev limiter on accident every so often, but they live through it just fine

 

my car likes the rev limiter....it meets it often
