I plan on racing a 4 cly dirt class next year, and the rules have changed. I'd been looking for a neon because of the single cam rule....now rules state dual cams are allowed (no V-tech, turbos). So....is the neon still the car to have??

 

I would stick with SOHC if your pairing it with the ATX.. DOHC on an ATX is SLOW... Its probably the slowest combo you can choose... Now if you can have a MTX... I would definately go with DOHC!

 

Get a 95 neon...it's the lightest neon and has the more aggresive cam.

I might get ripped for this....but what about the Olds Calais 442 with the quad-4 (190hp).

If you want 4 cyl fast for cheap, your best bet would be a quad 4 engine. Not know for reliability, but the H.O. version puts out 190 hp.

Not bad considering how old it is now.

You can find those in a grand am or beretta. I know the beretta with that engine can do 0-60 in low 7 seconds.

 

That would suck to race with an automatic! Racing+5spd=GoodStuff.
