hey guys. i recently attempted to do a CAI for my neon myself. didn't turn out well at all.

the problem was...i was trying to put the air filter down to the left of the radiator fan (left when facing the engine from the outside). i removed the plastic piece there to allow more airflow. but no matter what i tried, the tube that went there was too large and the hood wouldn't close because of it.

have any of you done intakes yourselves? how did you do it?

also, i have a manual transmission and i was looking at cold air intakes online and they all say that they're for 5-speed manual transmissions. will those fit in my car? for example, the iceman.

It looks like a pretty easy mod for pretty cheap, I'm just too lazy to try it.

the only problem is...the hood. i doubt that will fit in mine. the guy said that he had to cut away some of the inside of his and he has a new hood anyways. and id have to move the battery...hmm...

looks like you didnt even move the battery...did you?

that actually looks pretty nice. may i ask what kind of pipes you used and what angles?

 

i have a 99 5spd myself but i bought my CAI offline and put it in myself its close to the battery but i didnt have to move it
