Bad gas milage can be more than a gas leak. First try a full tune-up: spark plugs, wires, air filter, fuel filter, PCV valve and so on. Clean the TB and EGR. Especially if you haven't just for maintenance purposes.

I drive back and forth to college and might I add i don't drive the speed limit most times...

about 140,000 on the engine or so and i get 30-36MPG per tank, most of that is to home from college and back again but my roads home resemble a twisted *** road course averaging 70MPH...

no mods just regular oil changes and air filter replacement

Sparks appear to be champs...since the car's inherited I have no clue when they were installed. I will make a note to replace them.

I don't recall when I last replaced air filter, I'll check that.

Wires, last I checked they didn't look corroded, could test resistance with a multimeter.

Fuel filter...ecch, somewhere under the car. Haven't gotten to it yet, though with 161764 miles on it, maybe I should. Maybe I should..

PCV=replaced recently. Gateway drug to taking better care of my car. ;/

EGR=Finally got off. Cleaned, reinstalled. Gonna get a vaccum gauge and see if my EGR might be dead rather than dirty.

TB=Haven't gotten to yet.

Well, I have the R/T Neon and I usually average around 30mpg combined. I dont beat on my car *ALL THE TIME* only occasionally.. The most I got MPG wise was... I think my GA trip which was 650mi each way and I only had to fill up twice.. so around about 33mpg?

On another forum people say they hit high thirties and fourties.

Anyhow: by the time I got out of class to run to the place that does smogcheck for all my other cars the guy was hopping in the car and leaving. I'll try again tomorrow. Autozone does not have gas cap checkers either.

I get 31, 32 on extended highway driving. It could be California driving (third gear, sudden braking because of craptacular traffic, second gear for twenty minutes, third gear for ten, full stop, etc etc)
