the only place thats really hot enough to make it smoke a decent amount is the exhaust.......like said before i would check the valve cover......or it could be the head gasket.....it sounds like the leak is sumwhere on the back of the engine...so make sure to check there

I'm having the same problem i Think its leakin out off the back cam seal and flowing all the way down the block to the cat and burning from there. going to swap out the gasket/seal and see what happens going to go ahead and retard the timing. but how much?

why would you retard the timing? I can see advancing the timing, but unless you plan to run nitrous I see no real reason to retard the timing at all.
