Default Not a very harmonic balancer!

Hey Neoner's. Well my Neon that sat for 5 years does NOT want to let go of it's harmonic balancer. The shop has 8 hours into just getting the Balancer off, it's seized solid to the crankshaft. At hour 5 I went down and bought a brand new HB, and brought it into the shop so they could cut the old HB off. They cut the HB at it's 3 spokes so it was just the middle part still on the crank, then they grinded each side of the remaining HB down to the crank and thought it would fall off in pieces after that. NO SUCH LUCK! The two remaining halves of the HB were still seized on. It took them another half hour of heat, prying, and hammering to get the rest off. I'll have to let you guys know the bill at the end! It shouldn't be TOO much because the Mech's are family friends, it's not like it's gonna be cheap though! WhoTF want's to work at a HB that wont come off for 8 hours.......

Mine was tight 2 but after i got a decent puller it pulled finally.
1hr and no go with a good puller id starting cutting it off save a lot of labour costs if your paying someone to do it

tell them to put some anti-sieze un the end of the crank before they put the HB back on......then it will save alot of tie if it has to come off again.....

after time the crank will basically weld itself to the pulley....makes it real hard to get off

Yea they had to cut it off. I'm getting my car back today and I can't wait to work on it. I forgot to add....... I was going to get an UDP but none of they parts places had any clue on where to get one. They just knew it was IMPOSSIBLE for them to get one. They should get with the damn times, frickin' hosers.

I didn't realize that it would be such a crack in the coconut to get the HB off in the first place. I just wanted to get it done for the winter, and next spring see about other upgrades.
