Default Loud Noise

I have a 97 sohc, i recently put a junkyard engine in it. It has an mls hg, and i swapped parts from my old engine onto it. Its been running good for the past month or two, but now its making a loud noise. It sounds like something in the engine is broken, but it doesnt make the loud noise when its idleing. When you give it gas it makes the noise. I had it idleing for about 20-25 minutes, and when i looked at the temperature gauge, it was about 4/5s the way up. I was thinking its the waterpump, because i know the ball bearings go, but i was also thinking it could be the camshaft sensor, the knock sensor, or a broken valve. Any help would be great.

Did you not replace the water pump, tensioner pulley and timing belt at the same time?

i did not replace any of them. I inspected the timing belt when i was putting the engine in the car, and it was brand new. So what do you think, is it the water pump, or the camshaft sensor, or the knock sensor, or all of the above.

depending on where you live and what shop you go to, it usually costs about 75-100 $ to have a vehicle system scan done. If it is a sensor of any sort it would set a code and it would be shone in the scan. is your check engine light on? if it is then i would say take it in and have it checked but if they tell you its a cam sensor keep in mind that low volts on a startup can cause that code too.
