Is this Rod slap
ok so I have been hearing about rod slap on the .org but no one responds to my question, Is this rod slap, Is it going to die =*(
Ive been driving it like this for 2 years its not much worse than it was back then.

To me it sounds like rockers or something in the top end but towards the end of the video i lower the recorder below the bumper and thats when you can hear a lil knocky slappy knock knock sound i think.

To me it doesnt seem to bad i just want someone elses oppinions, if i rev it lightly to about 2500 i can hear it when it idles down kinda like 5 or 6 knocks when its comming down, and its not too loud either...
Ya it dosn't sound like rod slap some of the neons have really bad valve train here try this to see if the sound quits down a lil go buy some really thick oil and poor it in top of the valve cove and then let it run a little and see if it sounds a little better if not u might have a wore out valve train a rod sounds a little loude then that noise.

Before you go taking the motor apart, I would check your flywheel bolts to your clutch or torque converter(auto or man). Also while you are down there check to see if your flywheel moves a little bit and the crank doesnt. I had it that same noise happen to me and I ended up rebuilding the whole motor just because my bolts were loose thanks to the transmission shop. Good luck with that.
