150K service maintenance
HI all,
I just want to ask themore experienced here what parts I need to change except for the timing belt at 150K. My neon is at 149K and pretty soon I will need to service it. How hard it is to replace the timing belt yourself? i couldnt find any threads with detailed instrutions ? anyone has any links that could be helpful? thanks
Some stats - 95 Highline 2.0 SOHC 5-speed. 149K. original, 2nd owner. Bought the car 4 years ago at 105K. haven't changed the clutch or timing belt yet. The clutch is sitll good thought, i have not checked the timing belt, I dont know if it was changed before I bought it because I bought it at an auction.

well the timing bealt isnt that easy i know you have to take of your belts (power and alt) then toy have to remove your udp then you got to get a jack under the motor then remove the passanger side motor mount then remove the timing cover then you can see the belt i think you have to do some other thing i cant remember off the top of my head ill find my book and get back to you
shouldn't have to change the belt till the 200,000mile mark. and unless your clutch was abused, it should last atleast till 200,000. mine lasted till 238,000 and another persons on here lasted till like 198,000.
might as well do a head gasket, water pump, oil pump, timing belt tentioner if your planning on doing it right. easiest way is to pull the motor, or fight stuff like the motor mount, rear timing cover, ect ect. if you dont have one, i suggest a haynes manual on the neon. my timing belt went at 148k, had to redo the head due to bent valves, while i was there, i replaced the water pump. then the tentioner bolts failed, had to redo it all over again. do it right, and save yourself time and money. replace everything i mentioned above if you want it reliable.
well i just found this post if you look at the top of the forum you will see this post Neon 1st Gen Do It Yourself information check it out
thanks can you email it to me the HOW TO at xel_naga3d@yahoo.com ? thanks
