lol ebay speed chip......he must really think that p.o.s. works. but economy engine....prolly a lil old 1.5 liter...hes MAYBE puttin out 110-115 with the headers and exhaust. sohc neons base hp is 132 stock. so stock, you should either beat him(depending how you drive) or give him a good run. oh yeah and tell him that aluminum park bench attached to his trunk isnt doing anything but weighing down his car...lol

 

my 95 ran stock 17.2, i did the aboved mentioned mods, and ran a best of 16.1. almost all of those are frebies, except the header and ecu.

 

how are they freebies Dazzellerr? this might be a dumb question but how did you only manage a 17.2 stock, is your car auto or 5spd. i always thought neons with a 5spd run around 16.5ish.

 

Stock SOHC's can run high 16's to low 17's.

 

ok, well than two more simple question(shouldn't say that cause if it was so simple i wouldn't ask), how much weight does a body kit add. I have plans on getting a R33 front and a spider side and back. My friend's neon already has a kit and a big spoiler(fiberglass but still ugly) and his car seems to be as quick as mine so i'm guessing the weight isn't to much at all. Just wondering tho. o and i know alot of people don't like kits on cars and i'm not trying to say it is better or a good idea, but i truly love them on neons and wanted a car with a kit for a long time so i plan on doing it soon. Second question is relating to the PCM. If i want to put a turbo on later, i heard that mopar performance isn't a good idea, what should i get that is just as good just in case i do put in a turbo?

dont worry about u got the beretta beat and u didnt even race him,,,lol,,i have a corsica with a 3.1 and its auto,,,the motors r strong if manual,,a couple of my friends with neon hand my *** 2 me all the time,,,and the civic isnt even worth the effort,,,i had a 95 neon sohc and i smoked so many civics i couldnt even count them,,,,,and i raced a acura tl with 225hp and he had a headers on it and smoked him,,ect,,,,,,every1 thinks neon r for going to get groceries but i wonder how they like getting smoked by them....

 

^haha, now that is good. Well see the thing about the beretta is i know with a auto they dog pretty bad but still. A stock neon sohc isn't to fast either. I'm not to worried about racing them cause for the most part, where i live alot of people just ran their mouths and don't really race. The kid with the beretta wants to race a longer distance on a highway but there is no point to it, neon tops at what, 120. I'm sure he would top at 135ish. So i wouldn't stand a chance on a long race. I want to do a 1/4 mile run. I know a place where it is flat and straight, problem is alot of times cops sit around there. I would go to a strip but there is none to my knowledge around me. Now really my only concern is getting my car faster without hurting the great MPG i enjoy so much. Plus i dont want to put to much stress on the engine, it is old with way to many miles. If i rebuild it i would do much more, but that isn't always the cheapest thing either.

 

my neon was stock looking but i had done other things to it,,port matched tb and intake and port matchedhead & intake solid front and rear motor mountsthe only thing that people could see that was done to the motor was the ghetto cai,,,lol,,,and i suprised the hell out of alot of people,,

 

racing aint always abouttopspeed. once you get about 100-110...itll be about time for you to slow down because of maybe cops or traffic....but by then you would have proved your point....if you are ahead of him.
