Default Cooling system

Yesterday left car at a friends for the day, come back later and found some coolant had leaked out. Only way I know even know is I saw some on the snow under the car. Its coming right from the water pump area. I dont think its the cap, but I'm not positive.

It doesn't leak for abit it seems like after it has been shut off.

The weird part now.
Car is at full operating temp according to cluster inside. The rad fans turn on and work normally. There is normal amount of heat coming from the heater vents inside.

When I popped the rad cap off, it was circulating coolant, but when I touched it, it was cold. No heat really seemed to be present. Why would the fans come on and the coolant is cold?
Also coolant was shooting out when I popped it off, yes it was running.

Need some suggestions please. Thanks.

if it kept shooting out after the initial part of taking the cap off, i would suggest a bad headgasket. also, if it is leaking at the water pump, time for a new water pump. thats how you know they are going, they start to either leak or freeze up.

Thanks for the input. Still searching for the cold coolant remedy.

Does someone have a picture or link to a possible schematic of a cooling system and how it flows throught out an engine?
