My AC pump locked up today. I made it home with the belt intact (though I got a few looks). Can I just bypass the AC pump and not mess anything up? This pump is not that old, but it leaked when it was put on and I didn't need the air that bad. But someone said that it needs to have the coolant in it to stay lubed up. So I see why it would freeze up. If I could bypass it that would be great because I don't really need the air. Does that pump run anything else?
Thanks.

no the ac pump dose nothing but ac, i removed bouth pump and conpresser pluss lines diddnt really see a diffrence in performance, but your water pume will spin faster, i heard it can were out faster, i had mine off about 30,000 miles and no prob
Im curious as to how this makes your water pump spin faster. If your not lowering the amount of teeth on the water pump pulley, how will it spin faster?
it cant spin faster, the water pump runs off the timing belt
the AC belt has nothing to do with the water pump.
just get a 41 inch V belt to run the power steering and your good.
I'm not sure if you understand the theroy of ratio properly.
You haven't changed any pulley diameters or gear ratios. The belt being shorter will not make anything spin faster. The P/S pump will still rotate at the same speed as it did with the longer belt on it running the A./C also.
