I have srt-4 rims and 215 50 r17 tires. How come they didn't fit in the rear? The front clears my strut BARELY and the rear struts were slammed on my tires and were smoking. how do i fix this problem?

i bought new struts for the rear [no spring or anything]. How will I go about uninstalling and installing struts for the rear? step by step if possible. I do have a spring compressor though. what other tools do i need and how much time roughly will this take to uninstall and install?

now i'm thinking it's just the tires. If I have stock srt-4 rims on my 97 dodge neon, whatare the biggest fit tires? I need to know the sizes. Thanks.

 

From the 1st Gen FAQ's:

Q: Will the SRT fims fit on my 1st gen?
A: Yes they will, but the SRT's stock tires will rub. You will need to run 205/40-17's or 215/40-17's. The 215/40-17's will give you a bit of a rim guard against curbing due to a little overhang....the 205's have no overhang, they are flush with the edge of the rims. (Info courtesy of spudsterier)

 

damn i already bought 4 215 50 r17's from tire works in my area. I told the guy my cousin said 205 40 r17's. he said it won't make any difference. What should I do? Go back and complain? I put a little millege on two tires. What if I get shocks? haha will that help?

 

Go back and complain. Tell them you asked for the 205/40-17's, but were advised by them to get them 205/50-17's and now it doesn't fit right. Raise hell if you have to.

You didn't notice they rubbed when you installed them?

 

I bought the tires at Tire Works. I hade the tires mounted to the rims at a mexican shop. I had them ballanced and mounted to the car at walmart. I did noticed that they were rubbing when I drove to the parking lot. so i parked and I took off the rear tires and put the stock back on.


Do you know anyone selling srt-4 seats?
