Default fuel filter replacement

How do you replace a fuel filter in a 97 DOHC? I've heard you have to remove the fuel pump, and it is actually part of the pump. Is this true?

it is part of the pump...but it can be removed while leaving the pump inside the tank

if you jack up the rear pasenger side of the car you will see it....its silver and on the top of the pump..looks like a canister......
there are 2 tabs on the outside that you have to push in....while pushing in, turn the filter and pull it off
its fairly simple...if you can easily reach the 2 tabs....be carefull though since gas will come out after the filter is removed.....try to do this after running most of the gas out of the tank

here is a pic of the pump outside of the tank....the filter is on the top in the back of the pic
