Exclamation Dodge wont start??

I have a 99 dodge ram, 1500. 4x4 360.
when i try to turn it over, it seems like it wants to but its not getting gas. also my keyless entry, dome light, headlights, and power door locks doesnt work.

i have a feeling it might the security system. but not sure how to reset, iv tried disconnecting the battery and pulling the alarm relay, but still nothing.

im leaving for Indiana next week and really dont have the money to take it in, every place i call they seem to try to get me to bring it in by tow.

any suggestions?

it sounds like you need to start checking all the fuses and if all turn out ok then you may want to start checking for power at the fuses.

All my fuses are good, I assume my relays are as well but I don't know how to tell. The lights and keyless entry were working up untill the moment the engine wouldn't turn over.

I would check the ASD relay. I think you can swap it out with another one in the 99 to check it. Have you read the codes? The guys over at the 2nd Gen site may be more help.

All a relay does i use a smaller voltage/lower amperage circuit to control a higher one. That way all those amps arent flowwing through your switch which allows for smaller wire and is also safer.

To check one you would need to make sure its getting power both straight from the battery source and from the switch itself. Which you turn the switch it energizes a coil which which "moves into place" so to speak in the relay. that allows the higher current to flow across and to the load.

If you have power to the relay from the battery then turn the switch and see if you get power to the smaller wire. If you do then the coil should click into place and current should flow across it.

(not very familiar with vehicle relays or your type of truck, but that is the basic way a relay works. hope that helps)

I figured it out, well... Crazzywolfie figured it out for me. I spent so much time on the relays and fuses under the hood. I didn't check the ones by the door. My power door lock fuse was blown, when I changed it out the dome lights came on and my lights and whistles started working. And BAM!!! It started. I didn't know one little fuse can throw off the whole system.

I appreciate all your guys' help.
