Once it is all one color, it will look mountains better. Dents are one thing, but having spots of mismatch kills a sexy truck. Notice there are very few pictures of my truck right now? Lol.

OH YEAH.

There is a ton of bondo that WASN'T bad, so I didn't grind it out. That will come with the rest of the body work much later. Or when the paint cracks and it starts rusting again. lmao

I'd have to take a picture of it.

It's an A/C truck so it's hard to get to.

*edit*
Oh yeah, if you look at the first picture with the airhorn, it's a 6-2141.

No traffic here, why do you think I post all my ponderings in the 2nd gen section? Glad to see you're on board.

So to re-cap, the carb I've got is for a 1976 Federal emissions 440. And I need to find the engine SN stamp on the block tomorrow.

One thing I've noticed about the reference sheet is that it says that that carb has 1 1/2in primaries, I had also read that all 440's had 1 3/8in primaries, so I don't understand how that works? lol

Apparently they came with both.

C/P

1-3/8" vs. 1-1/2": The TQs have two different primary bore sizes. These
units can be interchanged. The smaller bore will yield slightly better
throttle response, but less overall flow.

Over the next few days I will brush up on my info, been a long time since I played with this stuff.

Did I read you played with the metering rod and made it backfire through the carb? Did you check to see if the timing advance is working?

I know they came with both, but I had seen some stuff that indicated the 440s only had the 1-3/8" primaries, whereas the reference says that this carb, while a 440 carb, has 1-1/2" primaries.

I did play with the metering rod, and it did backfire. However, I wasn't able to make it do it again even after I richened it up some more. Seems to be a fluke at this point. Runs much better with the richer mixture.

I attempted to see if it was working....apparently I don't have enough suction through my mouth. lol But from what little suction I was able to accomplish via that, I couldn't feel any holes in the vacuum advance unit.
